Shakespeare's Coriolanus concerns a Roman general who, following military successes, seeks political leadership. His temper is unsuited for political office and he is quickly deposed, whereupon he aligns himself with Rome's enemies. 

The director strongly believed Coriolanus had strong connections to Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games franchise and wanted the set and costumes to reflect a similar "haute-couture" futuristic dystopian society.
