Adapted from the Disney film of the same name, The Little Mermaid follows the journey of Ariel, a mermaid princess who falls in love with a human. 

   

The director did not want the set to be influenced by the movie. Since this production was to be built and painted by high school students, I drew inspiration from Georges Méliès and late 19th-century theatre practices. Since the set was meant to look painterly and theatrical, students of all skill levels were able to contribute.
